I am Billy Patel, a freelance web developer with over 25 years of experience building, fixing, and maintaining websites for businesses across the UK.

I am based in Leicester and work remotely with clients across the UK. Most of my work involves existing sites rather than new builds.

I started my career in Nottingham, spending six years as a senior developer at Broadband Communications Ltd. During that time I worked on a wide range of systems and wrote a technical book called Foundation ColdFusion for Flash, which helped developers connect Flash applications to databases. It even made it onto the shelves at Waterstones.

The decision to go freelance came during a drive to see Lemon Jelly at Birmingham Academy. I expected it would take time to build up work, but projects kept coming and have done ever since.

After 25 years, I know which approaches deliver results. I have seen trends come and go, and I stick to approaches with a proven track record. When you work with me, I take the time to understand your business properly so I can provide solutions that fit your actual needs.

Clarity over speed

I take time to understand before I act. Rushing creates more problems than it solves.

Every change is tested. Updates go to staging first. Rollback plans exist before anything is deployed.

Code should be readable and documented. If I am unavailable, someone else can pick it up.
